The flagship event of The Economist’s Society, The UCL Economics Conference 2023, is coming up soon! We are excited to host Professor Amrita Dhillonas the 1st speaker of the conference.Amrita Dhillon is a professor of Economics at King’s College London with her recent research centred around the political economy and development economics. In the past she has been a council member of the Royal Economic Society, UK and a member of the academic advisory panel for the Dept of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs in the UK. She has also published in various economics journals such as Social Choice and Welfare, the Journal of Economic Theory, Econometrica, the Journal of Public Economics, Review of Finance and Journal of Development Economics. Her research areas have been wide ranging with a previous focus on social choice theory, strategic voting, turnout, and on information economics and mechanism design but most recently her work has been focused on social networks and labour productivity and on the problem of low female labour participation in IndiaC ome on Monday November 20th to hear Bossaerts discuss “Activism: how is mobilisation increased? Some experimental and empirical evidence”
